error: The Motif library '-lXm' could not be found

I recieve this error when performing configure.  I have been through the 
config.log files and have used the --with-motif-include and libraries, but to 
no avail.

What should I be looking for.

configure: error: The Motif library '-lXm' could not be found.
                  Please use the configure options '--with-motif-includes=DIR'
                  and '--with-motif-libraries=DIR' to specify the Xm location.
                  See the files 'config.log' and 'ddd/config.log'
                  for further diagnostics.

I am very new to Linux.  Thank you for any help you can give me.
