I've just read Simon Josefsson's excellent summary on de-vendoring gnulib, by supporting ./bootstrap in the debian build process: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2024-05/msg00124.html So yes the goal is laudable, and we should support this if possible. The devil is in the details with build processes like this, so a patch would be appreciated if you could test that it works for your use case. thanks! Pádraig
