I don't think your change makes any difference to
the readability for someone used to reading Java
(or C or C++). But if you prefer the code that way,
I don't mind.
However, in uploading a new version of the patch,
you have clobbered all of my explanations, and my
comments for the ChangeLog file. I hope you kept
a copy ...

(This replaces the lost description, etc)
This patch fixes a bug in the next() method that caused
it to skip over the first character of the iterator's
string. (The 'index' was incremented to early.)
