BTW, the flakiness of emacs 25 happens around that 'do nothing' nil:
713- (setq format-spec (cdr (assq charset cjk-format-spec-table)))
714- (if (null format-spec)

Can we replace the silent nil with something more verbose, e.g. (omitting the
coding-system thing)

or something a bit more in-your-eye?
