I wonder what version of polyglot they distibute.   There are all sorts of versions floating arround as it never was a centralized project.  Havnt we replaced polyglot with uci2wb anyway?  Is that a package?

Unfortunately they do not consider XBoard dependent on Polyglot, because
XBoard can also be used just as an interface for playing on freechess.org.
In which case you don't need Polyglot at all.
