I've seen that InstallShield error with winboard-4_2_7.exe, but not
4_2_7a -- working around it is specifically the reason that I released
4_2_7a. Could you please check what your Windows TMP and TEMP
environment variables are set to? Also, after 4_2_7a self-extracts and
fails to install, if you go to the wb-setup directory that it created
and run setup.exe by hand (double-clicking on it is fine), does that
work?

Thanks. I'm moving to gcc (that is, the cygwin toolset), so I don't
care much about MSVC7, but maybe others will.

Do you have flex on your system and in your search path? It doesn't
come with MSVC.
