Hello,
My name is Rory Anthony O'Connor and I am looking to contribute towards a
FOSS project with the purposes of learning, and giving back to the
community. I am writing to ask how can I get started on this endeavour? I
am willing to dedicate at least several hours a week of my time. I am also
willing to help with documentation efforts.
A little bit about my background:
Experience: Software Engineer with 8 years of PHP and MySQL experience.
Location: Europe, but open to all remote opportunities.
Projects: I have mostly worked on eCommerce sites, online casinos and back
office applications. I have worked in roles having the titles of Backend
Developer, Software Engineer and also ScrumMaster.
Skills: Other than PHP and MySQL, I code in Java, C# and Python.
Experienced with the usual HTML, CSS, JS front-end technologies.
Comfortable user of Linux/Unix systems.
Qualifications:
- H. BSc. in Computer Science, graduated cum laude
- Magento® Certified Developer
- ScrumAlliance® Certified ScrumMaster
Outside of the software world, I enjoy playing the guitar, I am an amateur
birdwatcher and work on renovating my farm at the weekends.
Though I have written some C programs in the past, I am hoping to expand my
knowledge in this area. I have encountered wget in my travels so I am
familiar with it from the user perspective.
So, to summarise, how can I get started?
Thank you in advance and I look forward to your reply.
Kind Regards,
Rory A. O'Connor
