Thanks for explanation.  I now understand why wget provides dynamic linking 
only.

Also, I learned that Mac OS X does not support GCC option "-static".  Apple 
supports statically linked binary but don't support static binary.  (I get so 
many another error)

Now I installed wget and related libraries, binaries, etc to default place 
(/usr/local).
