Probably. When I unpacked your .tgz file, I found
many files presumably pieces of your original.
But running `sum -s' on the concatenation of those files gave this:
4481 2070
Just recently there was a bug report for `sum -s' vs. large files.
It has been fixed. A new test release is coming soon.

* sum -s produces the proper 16-bit checksum for large files
(this fixes a bug that was introduced in 2.0f)
