Hi,
I'm using GNU textutils on my debian 2.2 system. I've got an option in
inittab that a tail -f /var/log/messages is opened on a console.
So, after 3 days, it doesn't show any messages any more.
I don't know if it's a bug in tail or has something to do with logrotate
(mves a logfile to logfile.\d.gz an an interval) or something else,
but it would be great if tail looked after the size of the file e.g.
every 15 mins.
Sorry disturbing you and thanx in advance
CU,
Philippe (BTW: I'm not a C programmer and I don't think *I* would be
to implement this =)
