Yes, the original suggestion was. I suggested an alternative.
About the escape protection. Consider this:
<table>
<tr>
<td> Cell </td>
</tr>
<span> Text between two rows </span>
<tr>
<td> Another cell </td>
</tr>
</table>
You will notice that Firefox, etc. will show the span above the table. This
common behaviour is what I wanted to talk about.
