Hi,
I use makeinfo 4.6, but maybe an older texinfo.tex.
I get somehow strange results with the following command imbrications:
@@address@hidden@@address@hidden@address@hidden: @address@hidden
@@address@hidden@@address@hidden@address@hidden: @address@hidden
@@address@hidden@@address@hidden@address@hidden: @address@hidden
@@address@hidden@@address@hidden@address@hidden: @address@hidden
I would have expected that in the resulting text --- are kept as 3 minus,
and that the text is bold and in fixed font for the 2 first lines, and
italic in fixed font for the line 3 and 4.
with makeinfo
-------------
@address@hidden: `a--b'.
@address@hidden: `a---b'.
@address@hidden: ``a---b''.
@address@hidden: ``a---b''.
In my opinion the first is bad, it should be
@address@hidden: `a---b'.
with makeinfo --html
--------------------
<p>@address@hidden: <code></code><b>a---b</b><code></code>.
<p>@address@hidden: <b></b><code>a---b</code><b></b>.
<p>@address@hidden: <code></code><cite>a---b</cite><code></code>.
<p>@address@hidden: <cite></cite><code>a---b</code><cite></cite>.
It seems right concerning --- kept, but the html is not nested.
with texi2dvi
-------------
--- are kept as is, but the style effects are not nested. The font corresponds
with the inner @-command only.
