This is hardly worth looking into because the system involved is a real
museum piece. Regardless I can file this for posterity and it can be
marked as a "WONT FIX" perhaps.
On a Sun SPARCStation 20 running Solaris 8 and with a very excellent GCC
compiler version 4.5.1, yes really, I saw :

Likely a non-issue but it feels nice to see code pretty much just work
when subjected to bizarre and strange old old circumstances. Very much a
standards conforming system but really SUSv2 and C99 clean at most.
