AUTHORS and THANKS

In preparing the next round of standards.texi tweaks
for change log files, i plan to xref the AUTHORS node
in maintain.texi, and would like to xref a THANKS node,
but don't see one anywhere.

One solution is to mention THANKS in maintain.texi, but
i think a superior one would be to move the AUTHORS info
into standards.texi and add THANKS there, as well, since
Automake supports (enforces) this practice, giving them
a more "standards" feel. I admit, however, not really
understanding the overall reason for having two documents,
so maybe i am missing something.

In any case, i would be willing to write a THANKS node,
once it's decided where it will live (my MO is to fit
the text stylistically to its context, if possible).
Please advise.
