The latest version of rec-mode is available in ELPA:
rec-mode 1.8.1 available gnu
Major mode for viewing/editing rec files
As for the res-type error, that may be a problem related to the mode
bein switched to lexical binding? The edit command works fine for me
with Emacs 28.0.50.
