Hi David.
I've been over at taskwarrior.org, and the subject of contact
maintenance is back in discussion. Once again I pointed them back
towards recutils as one possible solution. The vcard format is as
relevant as ever, and I find myself wondering (again) how compatible
recutils and vcards might be.
Here's the question: could recutils be extended with native vcard
compatibility? or a vcard mode? or a small set of vcard in/out
conversion scripts? How hard would that be?
vcard is basically recutils plus "properties".
The vcard format allows to specify "properties" of the entries. For
example in the vcard entry:
tel;type=work: 123456
type=work is the definition of a property.
So we would need to add something similar to these properties to
recutils. Do we want to do that? And in that case, which syntax to
use?
