Then run the command by hand from the `shlib' subdirectory of the readline
build directory:

/bin/sh -x ../support/shlib-install -O darwin8.8.0 -d /usr/local/lib -b
/usr/local/bin -i "/usr/bin/install -c -m 644" libreadline.5.1.dylib

and inspect the trace output.
