bug#29084: parted mklabel

I have scripts that regularly do an fdisk –l and put it into a subversion repository (on another server, and I have it checked out on my desktop).

Why? Because this gives me all the information I need to make the partitions again should I need it.

I also save mdadm, lvm, smart, … and a lot other information about my disks.

Occasionally there are changes, and then I get an alert about it, usually because I resized a logical volume group, but it has also been because a disk stopped responding.

No I wont send you the scripts, because you’ll learn more by doing and implementing them yourself.

Hi Jon

As far as the partitions one primary the other logical volumes.

Hello,

Why don't you use the Testdisk tool to recover lost partitions?

Well, how many partitions did you have on your machine before wiping the partition table on the disk?

And which kind?
