last logical partition device not created

I am having a problem with losing only the last logical partition.  I have a coraid system with raid5, Slackware  12, 2.6.21.5-smp, parted-1.8.8.

Model: Unknown (unknown)
Disk /dev/etherd/e1.1: 3001GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos

After a reboot or shutdown, partition 7 is not created in dev directory until I
(parted) rm 7
and recreate it
(parted) mkpart logical reiserfs 2500G 3001G
 All data is intact. Any help would be appreciated.
