Hello Andrew,

first of all, sorry for not answering your mail immediately. I was pretty 
busy the last days (installing M$ Visual Studio on a different hard drive - 
well, it's not bad, but using Borland's free compiler and an ide like DevCpp 
does about the same; the only problem is that Borland's linker doesn't want 
to accept some .lib formats).
When I wrote that I "dd the first few sectors of hda2", I meant that I saved 
the data to a file but didn't overwrite it.
OK, today I did a "sys c:", and it's just working fine again! Thank you very 
much for your advise, I couldn't have known how to fix the problem.
