Couldn't restrain myself either.. :-)
The 100% correct spelling is actually "voilĂ ", with a grave accent on
the final A.
In French, the rationale would appear to be that it makes it easier to
distinguish the interjection from the simple past of the verb "voiler"
~= "to veil".
Nitpicking obviously, and Merriam-Webster has both spellings anyway,
perhaps because accented vowels are not readily available on our U.S.
keyboards.
