hmm. I'd forgotten about this.
Actually, for most scripts, I have a macro CF_DISABLE_ECHO.
I don't recall why I didn't update ncurses' configure script to use
that (unless it was the addition of the libtool variables).
So... I updated tack's to use CF_DISABLE_ECHO (which moves most
of the logic out of configure.in), and updated the aclocal.m4 with
other changes. Finally, I made a check for the ncurses vs tinfo
library dependency issue which was producing a warning for dpkg's.
The result is in
