Testing with

        perl 5.8.7
        cdk 5.0-20050424
        cdk-perl-20031210

(the last two from ftp://invisible-island.net/cdk/), I don't see any problems.
I ran perl with valgrind, and though there are lots of memory leaks, etc.,
don't see anything in that trace which would indicate a problem with cdk.

There is a Debian package for libcdk5.  Looks like a reinstall to get that
will also get libcdk-perl which is dependent on libcdk5:
