I made some tests.  As noted, it is an experimental option (it seems to
work - on Linux where my wheel mouse's events are received - but since it 
changes the ABI, it's not part of the normal build).

"When" is an odd term - the patches that I put on my ftp area are changes
that I've checked in, and (barring some bug/fixes) will be part of the 
next release.  I'm working on a couple of other areas which have to be
finished off before 5.5 (wide-character forms library and extended 
colors).
