Keyboard driven searches within curses using the menu module

Hi all,

I have a menu, and have enabled O_SHOWMATCH. When I type letters, it does not 
search to the next pattern match. Typing letters produces no movement or any 
other type of response. The documentation I've seen indicates such keystroke 
driven record searching should function, and I seem to remember getting 
pattern searches to work on a menu before. What have I forgotten?
