sorry. It appears I broke this in my changes to implement the cygwin dll's.
I did a comparison build on Linux, but that uses the ABI_VERSION in the
resulting pathnames -- unlike IRIX. So I'll have to review the various
system-types and see what the fix would be. It's probably in the changes
to mk-1st.awk
