Can't open vt100 or xterm

Hi there,

I'm trying to get ncurses 5.2 ported to Mac OS X. I had no problems with 
version 5.1 under the public beta. 5.2 compiles without errors (just a 
bunch of warnings, but when I invoke programs in the test directory, I 
get either

1) Error opening terminal: vt100: in the Terminal.app under Aqua,

or

2) Error opening terminal: xterm: in X Windows (Tenon's XTools).

Is there some environmental variable that ncurses is looking for?
