I'm considering making it the default for the systems that don't install
under /usr since it's been an annoyance (particularly on Solaris people
install ncurses w/o disabling overwrite, and have gcc find ncurses'
headers in /usr/local/include but link against the vendor's curses library
under /usr/lib).
