That's not altogether true.  While the documentation is excellent, it covers 
the _use_ of ncurses once the clueless one (me) has gotten it installed.  The 
section of the FAQ about "common problems" doesn't seem to be included (that 
doesn't mean it's not there, though, it just means I couldn't find it) in the 
html docs.

There are some very interesting points made in the "problems" section, notably 
"don't symlink your old version to the new one" (which for the moment I've 
chosen to ignore, since telnet and vim seem to be working).

Anyway, it's working now, I bravely did the rpm -e thing to clean out the old 
version.  I had to set my xterms to rxvt to get the colours and the line 
drawing, but that's okay, I'll figure that out.  I may even try some 
programming.

On another note: I seem to be getting duplicate messages of posts to this list; 
 the "reply" button wants to send the reply To: the author rather than the 
list, with a Cc: to _both_, would probably be the reason.
