Details:

Starting MIT Scheme with --heap larger than about 9000 (35MB) produces the
following error on recent 32-bit Linux systems:

Requested allocation is too large.
Try again with a smaller argument to '--heap'.


Information about systems tested is listed below. All machines had at least
512MB of RAM and ample available swap. The issue does not happen on my Debian
5.0 64-bit server.



*Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit*

$ uname -a
