Details:

  address@hidden:~$ mit-scheme
Largest address does not fit in datum field of object.
Allocate less space or re-configure without HEAP_IN_LOW_MEMORY.

I get the above message after I installed mit-scheme and tried to run it from
the command line. I tried installing it two ways: with "apt-get install
mit-scheme", then (after "apt-get remove mit-scheme") with Ubuntu "Add/Remove
Applications". In both cases the install process seemed to complete
successfully.

Running it, from where its icon is installed on a pull-down menu, has no
result.

I tried setting the command line option --large, with no result. I couldn't
find from the online or pdf documentation where to "re-configue without
HEAP_IN_LOW_MEMORY."

With command line option --option-summary, I get:

 address@hidden:~$ mit-scheme --option-summary
 Summary of configuration options:
   heap size: 1242
   constant-space size: 2261
   stack size: 100
   library path: /usr/lib/mit-scheme
   band: /usr/lib/mit-scheme/all.com
   microcode tables: /usr/lib/mit-scheme/utabmd.bin
   emacs subprocess: no
   force interactive: no
   disable core dump: no
   suppress noise: no
   no unused arguments
Largest address does not fit in datum field of object.
Allocate less space or re-configure without HEAP_IN_LOW_MEMORY.
