Follow-up Comment #10, bug #40344 (project make):
Note that being able to create file names longer than 259 characters is a
mixed blessing: once created, these files cannot be manipulated by any Windows
utilities, except if those utilities themselves use the techniques mentioned
in this discussion. Having at some point gotten myself into that trap, I now
very much advise people not to do that, if they can, because chances are you
will have to write your own utilities to delete, move, and copy these files,
as none of the programs available on Windows can handle them.
Caveat emptor!
