On Page 3 (Actual page 12) of the PDF document that I downloaded from your
web site entitled
GNU Make
A Program for Directing Recompilation
GNU make Version 3.81
April 2006
Third sentence from the bottom of the page says...
If you have enabled secondary expansion (see Section 3.10 [Secondary
Expansion], page 19) and you want a literal dollar sign in the prerequisites
lise, you must
actually write four dollar signs ($$$$¹).
But
lise ->
should read
line
instead.
I have found the manual to be extraordinarily helpful. Thanks for such a
well written manuscript!
