Fresh off one of the biggest wins in school history, the second- ranked Tennessee Volunteers will try to punch their own ticket to the Rose Bowl when they take on the 21st-ranked LSU Tigers in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday evening. Tennessee, which posted a shocking 34-32 win over Florida in the Swamp last weekend, has vaulted into the second spot in the newest BCS Standings and controls its own destiny. The Vols have reeled off seven straight wins since suffering a 26-24 loss at the hands of Georgia in early October. Tennessee hasn't put together more than seven wins in a row since winning 14 straight over a period of time that stretched from the 1998 season (13-0) through the first game of the 1999 campaign. UT has its sixth 10-win season in the last nine years under head coach Phil Fulmer. The Vols have won at least nine games in seven of Fulmer's nine full seasons as head coach. Tennessee hasn't been ranked as high as No. 2 since the week of September 12, 1999. It will be the third appearance for the Vols in the SEC Championship game, as they own a 2-0 mark. Tennessee beat Auburn in 1997 and followed it with a victory over Mississippi State in 1998. The Big Orange will be aiming for their 14th SEC championship and 10th outright title. Meanwhile, the Vols will be going for their eighth season with at least 11 victories. Over the years, Tennessee owns a 41-8-1 mark in the month of December. LSU enters hot on a four-game winning streak after downing Auburn, 27-14, last week to get to the championship game. The Tigers have seven SEC titles to their credit with their last coming in 1988.

This will be a dazzling bout as the leagueÂ’s two best offenses hammer it out for the top spot in the NFC West. Both the 49ers and the Rams come into SundayÂ’s match with league leading 9-2 records. The Rams won the first round 30-26 in Week 2, however the 49ers have been coming on strong in recent weeks and have that old championship swagger again. The 49ers are looking to snap a five-game losing streak to their divisional foes. If Jeff Garcia can lead his San Fran boys to victory, he may finally make believers out of the last of his doubters.

The Greatest Show on Earth:
A number of weeks ago Coach Martz made a comment that the only team that could beat St. Louis was the Rams themselves. At the time we thought it was a very cocky statement. However, after further review we must admit we agree. The Rams had come into last weekÂ’s game with 20 turnovers in the prior four games and they were leading the league in fumbles (18). However, when the Rams are playing clean, hard football, they are an unstoppable force. Last week the Rams averaged 9.4 yards per play as they devastated the Falcons 35-6. Quarterback Kurt Warner was nearly perfect. His quarterback rating for the game was a gaudy 155.3 out of a possible 158.3. Meanwhile Marshall Faulk had 198 total yards and three touchdowns (all receiving) including the 100th score of his career. However, the key to the game was not the eye-popping offensive numbers. It was the fact they had absolutely no turnovers.
After twelve weeks, the Rams are leading the league in total offense (417 yards/game), pass offense (296.5 yards/game) and total points (30.1 per game). The 49ers defense is on a high after shutting out the Buffalo Bills last week. Second-year cornerback Ahmed Plummer is playing particularly well - he has caught four interceptions in the past two games. However, letÂ’s face it - the Rams are not the Bills. The Rams offensive studs have a history of beating up on the 49ers. Warner has eleven touchdowns and is averaging 310 passing yards in his last four games against San Francisco. Isaac Bruce has posted seven touchdowns and 688 receiving yards in his last five games against the 49ers, while Marshall Faulk has 322 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the last three matchups. It sounds like the makings of a long afternoon for the 49er defense. Their 25th ranked pass defense will not have much of a chance of squelching WarnerÂ’s aerial attack.

The Future of Mobile

The future of the mobile entertainment industry is now.
Technology will be the driving force behind this yearÂ’s Value Added Mobile and E-Services (VAS) Conference held on December 10-11 at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London, England.
Leading players in the telecommunications industry will be speaking about cutting edge VAS strategies, and case studies will be examined that incorporate specific VAS techniques.
The conference promises to "maximize revenue from enhanced mobile services." Presentations will focus on the various ways in which industry professionals are able to enhance their VAS strategies. Specifically, speakers will focus on such things as the VAS value chain, revenue potential, branding and pricing, and the creation of cross-device platforms.
"The mobile industry is showing tremendous growth potential in gaming and mobile marketing," said Anne de Kerckhove, Managing Director of 12snap, a mobile entertainment company based in London. "2002 will be a very big year for the industry."

Arizona Cardinals: LG Pete Kendall is doubtful for Sunday's game against Washington because of a sprained left foot and RG Leonard Davis is questionable because of back spasms.
Atlanta Falcons: QB Chris Chandler practiced Wednesday and expects to play in Sunday's home game against New Orleans.
Carolina Panthers: TE Wesley Walls is doubtful for Sunday's road game against Buffalo due to a hyperextended ankle.

College Football
Georgia Bulldogs: CB Tim Wansley will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his lower left leg.
Miami Hurricanes: OT Bryant McKinnie had surgery on his left knee to remove bone chips and LB Chris Campbell and DT William Joseph both had surgery on their knees to clean out loose cartilage. All are expected to be ready for the Rose Bowl.
