OK, thanks for the info. I figured it worth a shot. My box is a Pentium III, 600 MHz with 256 MB RAM, running NT 4.0 Workstation and the "B20" version of CygWin.

Well, I'm not sure. The error means nothing to me.
There is one bug in parsing makefiles which can lead to bad
consequences, but IIRC it should always happen, but only for particular
kinds of makefiles. If you are seeing this go away during some
invocations of the same makefile, then I doubt it's the same problem.
