The only way to log its activity is by using the --verbose option.  I'll
need some more emacs-related info in order to help you.  In particular,
what is your rmail configuration (contents of your ~/.emacs file)? Is
~/RMAIL created?  If so, is it empty or does it contain something?  Do
you see any mail-specific diagnostics in the "*Messages*" buffer?
