[bug-mailutils] Newbie linking problem with mailutils

I just built mailutils (with the usual
./configure, make, make install) and when
running mailutils program I get

  mailutils-config: error while loading
  shared libraries: libmucfg.so.0: cannot
  open shared object file: No such file
  or directory

I don't understand linking in unix, so
I don't know how to fix that. However,
I do have 'libmucfg.so.0' in /usr/local/lib.

What do you think I should try?
