Hallo,

I have a strange problem with calling mail "silently" in a script.
echo "test" | mail -s test ths
comes back with rc=0, but it does not create a mail to the local user ths
in my mail spool.
If I try the same manually it works, i.e. send a mail directly to my mailer
with the exact args like mail does.
I tried tracing with gdb, but I'm at a loss in the mail_send0 subroutine
where the vfork happens. The parent program gets sigpipe when writing the
buffer to the child fd, and I don't know how to continue debugging from
there.

This works:
printf "To: ths\nSubject: test\n\ntest" | /usr/lib/sendmail -t -oi ths

/usr/lib/sendmail is a link to my installation of exim 4.61.

Tschau...Thomas
