I was really wondering, I look in various places and I see that there
are problems with fcntl locking over NFS. Is this because there are
broken implementations of NFS servers/clients? In our setup we have a
working fcntl locking mechanism over NFS...

I don't know about the extension and whether it can be utilized
either.
