I suggest moving `from' to examples/ and maintain only `frm', which is more robust.
if all the functionality of from is available in frm then its a good idea. anything that keeps the package "lean and mean" is probably a good thing.
It is too complex for an example and, as you have noticed, we already have sfrom.c there, which serves its purpose quite well. So, my proposition is to abandon `from'.
i'd guess that some people are using it so maybe its better to move it to examples, at least for a while, until they can make sure they have sorted out everything that uses it.
