FWIW, I have been playing with supporting dlopen in gsasl, so that
packages linking to gsasl doesn't have to link to every random library
that some gsasl mechanism happen to use. Portably, there appear to be
thread problems with dlopen, but I think GNU/Linux is fine, so it
would be possible to enable dlopen support on glibc hosts. Of course,
then gsasl would have to be split up into core libgsasl and, e.g.,
libgsasl-krb5.
Doing this would also allow gsasl users to be able install a
libgsasl-krb5 module that used GNU GSS/Shishi or Heimdal, instead of
MIT Kerberos, too. E.g., libgsasl-krb5-gnu, libgsasl-krb5-mit,
libgsasl-krb5-heimdal.
Thanks,
Simon
