GNOME packages use intltool-update --maintain, which I think just
searches for files with a certain ending. It probably bloats POTFILES
with lots of files that actually don't have catalogs, but it's not a
very big deal. It's just more time-consuming to generate a pot file.

Yeah, just yesterday... or today, can't remember. But I finally did.
