The current version has a number of deficiencies which I expect code
based on mailutils wouldn't have:
It has hardwired handling of spool locking, i.e. you can't reliably
use the same binary with spools that get deliveries from other
systems. (I read an Irix spool from a Debian system. It isn't clear
to me from the manual whether mailutils can handle that either yet,
but the Emacs movemail wasn't getting it right -- using liblockfile --
on Debian anyhow.)
I doesn't handle APOP and IMAP, at least. (IMAP handling has been an
Emacs todo item for years.)
Many thanks if mailutils can provide a properly-maintained movemail.
I can explain further what issues I know about with the current
version if necessary.
