Hi,
Now I am finally able to move on to feeling my way with mailutils I have the
usual dumb questions!
As a precursor to coding I have tried the simplest thing - sfrom - to look
at an email account and get something back.
I have entered and got the following:
timcarpenter% setenv MAIL=pop://address@hidden
timcarpenter% ./sfrom
mailbox_open: DNS name resolution failed
So I am missing something pretty basic, but I am unable to find out where to
go next (my email f/e seems happy enough to work with that URL). Frankly, I
am used to such f/e email apps and not in the slightest used to using UNIX
directly for email - so apologies for such a basic question. I want to avoid
turning my machine into an email server, if possible.
BTW- my target is to programmatically get new mail alerts in realtime or at
worst 1sec interval polling from 2 or more email addresses to separate
applications.
Thanks in advance
Tim
