It's OK but it doesn't work :^) Exactly for the reasons I mentioned:
gettext receives a single string "GNU dotlock ... \vReturns ..." but
the .mo file has two msgids for it, and of course neither is found.
OK to fallback to method 1 (preserving \v as is)?
