Ok, the first problem are empty lines in .mailrc Here, a test
with empty mbox:
$ echo > .mailrc
$ mail
1: invalid message number
mail (GNU Mailutils 0.1.2), Copyright (C) 2001 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
mail is free software with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
For details type `warranty'.
Send bug reports to <address@hidden>.
No mail for te
Then, with one message in mbox and "set autoprint" in .mailrc:
$ mail
mail (GNU Mailutils 0.1.2), Copyright (C) 2001 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
mail is free software with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
