Lovely - Sergey, Alain: Should I bump the minimum version to 1.7, or
1.7.1?  Since both of those require autoconf 2.54, I'll also take a pass
through that to make sure anything it's updated correctly.  1.7.1
doesn't give extra features, but there are a bunch of bug fixes.
