My tests show that stripped libmailbox.so is about 250k with all
features and 170k with just pop support (no imap, mh, ...). I can
understand saving just 80k is not very important, but this is 30% of the
initial size.

I don't say this is a major saving. But it's 30%. In embedded projects,
like phone, PDA, ..., if we can schrink all the components to 30%
lesser, this is a good job. In our case, at SMARTDATA, we considere this
as an important part of our projects.
