Are you sure, I did 
# cvs update -d -P
# cd doc/texinfo
# make mailutils.dvi

and it shows me
pop3
smtp
imap4

Only the nntp was taken out.  The pop3.texi
does not describe at all te code in mailbox/mbox_pop.c.
The same for imap4.texi etc ..

It is something we have talk about for the next release; refactor
them out to allow more flexibility and a better/clearer separation.
