Very cool stuff,  BTW I also maintain GNU inetutils, so if you
have a few free brain/CPU cycles, we should talk.  In brief the
idea is simple  to break inetutils programs into reusable components
so ftp will have a libftp and a ftp program build on top of it

ftp -->libftp.a
tftp -->libtftp.a
rlogin -->librcmd.a
rsh -->librcmd.a
etc ...

Food for thought .. after mailutils/grep/soccer and biking 8-)

Jeff is the co-maintainer, but he is too buried under work.
